We concluded our period of Remembrance in College at lunchtime today with a First World War object handling session with a particular focus on the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry.  Mr McGovern demonstrated how the soldiers were prepared for battle with their provisions, their uniform and their weapons.  The students had a chance to taste the corn beef rations and try on some of the items of clothing, and to reflect on what the men of the RGLI were facing in 1917 as they attempted to capture Nine Wood as part of the Battle of Cambrai.
