Statement on qualifications studied in the Sixth Form 2019-21 for Higher Education Institutions
The Ladies' College is a grant-aided day school for girls in Guernsey. We operate a Sixth Form partnership with our local boys’ school, Elizabeth College. This partnership allows us to offer a wide range of subject combinations and aids preparation for higher education and the workplace. Students are taught in mixed classes across both sites. Entry requirements for the Sixth Form are five grades 9-4, with grade 6 advised in the subjects to be studied at A-level or equivalent. All students have studied reformed A-levels based on terminal examinations.
The Ladies’ College closed on 20th March 2020 due to COVID-19 and reopened on 1st June. During the closure, lessons continued online. Practical lessons could not take place and no end of year examinations took place. Since September, the College has functioned normally, though our procedures remain subject to review at any time in response to guidance from the island's government. UCAS grades are based on continual assessment and our teachers' professional judgement. Students have not had the opportunity to attend the Higher Education Fair, complete work experience, or visit universities in person but, wherever possible, alternative virtual events have been provided.
