Statement on qualifications studied in the Sixth Form 2020-22 for Higher Education Institutions.
The Ladies' College is a grant-aided day school for girls in Guernsey. We operate a Sixth Form partnership with a local HMC school, Elizabeth College. This partnership allows us to offer a wide range of subject combinations and aids preparation for higher education and the workplace. Students are taught in mixed classes across both sites. Entry requirements for the Sixth Form are five grades 9-4, with grade 6 advised in the subjects to be studied at A-level or equivalent. All students have studied reformed A-levels based on terminal examinations.
The Ladies’ College closed on 20th March 2020 due to COVID-19 and reopened on 1st June 2020, with students subsequently being awarded Centre Assessed Grades for GCSE. Disruption due to Covid was also experienced by this cohort during their Sixth Form studies due to:
Outside of the closure periods, the College has functioned normally, though our procedures remain subject to review at any time in response to guidance from the island's government. UCAS grades are based on continual assessment, an end of year examination in June 2021 and our teachers' professional judgement. Students attended a virtual Higher Education Fair and other alternative virtual events where possible (e.g. Open days) as travel outside of Guernsey has been restricted.
