Pre-Preparatory Week Four: 15th - 19th May
Pre-Prep were joined by Form 2 on a fantastic beach trip, each group had a Pea, a Bean and two Form 2's. It started a little wet as we had a small shower of rain, however this didn't dampen the excitement, and soon the sun came out. The girls loved rock pooling, they caught kabos, shrimps, crabs and even a sand worm!! Then they were set a challenge in their groups of designing some beach art!! Wow what imagination and team work, I think we hit all aspects of our Melrose Growth Mindsets!
Collaborative - At all times sharing buckets, nets, and designing amazing art!
Initiative - Where to find the live stock and how to catch them as well as how everyone's abilities need to be taken into account!
Curiosity - There were many things we found in the rock pools that some of the girls had never seen and we all learnt together about different aspects of beach life!
Risk Taker - We all have different abilities and a lot of the girls over came initial worries about flapping fish and pinchy crabs to have a go and catch them for themselves in the end!
Resilient - We started the morning in the rain which says a lot, however everyone pushed themselves in different aspects of the morning, they didn't give up when things went wrong, and continued to chase that fish and crab when it escaped!!!
Reflective - There was a lot of discussions during the morning and the groups together worked out how they could approach which ever task from a different way!
A wonderful morning which we would love to repeat!
