Two of our students Hannah and Bella are shown launching a firefly racing dinghy at Farmoor Reservoir in Oxfordshire, where they competed in the National Youth Team Racing Championships, sailing in around thirty races against many of the top sailors from schools across the UK. A third student, Jessica, also took part, along with eleven boys from Elizabeth College; they represented "Guernsey Colleges".
Whilst the results for the two teams were not quite as they would have liked, the trajectories of learning and progress were very steep, and this bodes well for future events.
Mr Herschel who runs the club said "The students were all fantastic to work and travel with. I congratulate them all on having been excellent ambassadors for their schools. They showed fantastic resilience, teamwork, positivity and sportsmanship throughout, even when competing teams were rather less sporting, when often luck and officials' decisions did not go their way, and through some truly miserable weather."
