Forest School

The concept originated in Scandinavia and provides an opportunity for the girls to develop confidence and self-esteem through engaging in hands-on learning experiences in their natural environment.
Melrose Forest School has been registered and in existence since Spring 2013, with the teaching method increasingly recognised as a professional and creative approach to safe and effective outdoor learning. Our pupils are encouraged to develop the independent learning skills.
We also hope that the girls will develop a love and understanding of the natural environment and that the Forest School investigative and problem solving approach to learning will be reflected in the curriculum across the school.
Miss Kinley teaches the girls about caring for, managing and understanding the woodland environment whilst developing self-esteem and communication skills.
