The Ladies’ College (The College) has completed a full British Schools’ Overseas inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and, having received their final report, has published the ISI’s findings to parents.

The College was delighted to be judged as excellent (the highest rating) across the board.

The report’s main findings were:

• The quality of the pupils’ achievement and their learning, attitudes and skills is excellent.

• The contribution of curricular and extra-curricular provision (including community links of benefit to pupils) is excellent.

• The contribution of teaching is excellent.

• The spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the pupils is excellent.

• The contribution of arrangement for welfare, health and safety is excellent.

• The quality of governance is excellent.

• The quality of leadership and management is excellent.

• The quality of links with parents, carers and guardians is excellent.

Within the report it states that The College aims “to encourage each girl to grow in confidence, enjoy her talents to the full and value the quality of others” and “to provide an environment in which girls grow up happily, develop wide interests and make lifelong friends” with each student being confident that she has achieved her best. The report confirms that the College is successful in achieving these aims, and recognises that the College’s development plan ‘builds on the school’s considerable strengths, but unashamedly confronts areas for development’.

Ashley Clancy, Principal, says: “This report is a tremendous endorsement of the work of the whole College and we welcome its recommendations. We look forward to making our students educational journey even better by continuing to develop the application of higher order learning skills in the classroom and embedding our current provision for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) into our curriculum.”

Kate Richards, Chairman of the Board of Governors, joins the Principal in embracing the ISI’s findings. “We are extremely encouraged with the outcome of the inspection, which recognises the dedicated work of all colleagues and students which goes into making The Ladies’ College a vibrant, progressive community. What is particularly pleasing, is that the College’s development plan has already started work on the identified recommendations and will build on this positive report.

The report recognises our students as being successful, conscientious, mature, creative, reflective, efficient, reasoned, logical and moral and that they show outstanding commitment and exceptional attitudes. Their individual success, achievements and exceptional attitude reflect the College’s motto of Fais ce que dois, advienne que pourra.
