Statement on qualifications studied in the Sixth Form 2016-18 for Higher Education Institutions
The Ladies' College is an independent day school for girls in Guernsey. We operate a Sixth Form partnership with an independent boy's school, Elizabeth College, which is a ten-minute walk away. This partnership allows us to offer a wider range of subject combinations than would otherwise be the case and aids in the preparation for higher education study. Students will have been taught in mixed classes and could study their subjects at either or both of the schools. Entry requirements for the Sixth Form are 5 A*-Cs with "B" grades in the subjects to be studied or equivalent.
Most 2017-18 UCAS applicants will have studied reformed, linear subjects with the exception of those studying Mathematics or Further Mathematics.
We are currently in a transitional year in which AS examinations will have been taken in all subjects other than English, French and History as these subjects have significantly different course elements or assessment schemes between A-level and AS-level.
Students applying in future years will not take AS levels to enable us to make the most effective use of the time available for studying each subject and will be sitting an internal examination at the end of Lower Sixth instead.
