The new building may be finished, but we still need your donations to reach our £2 million Phase 3 campaign target. As at 23rd January 2017, the fundraising total is £1,256,787.
All involved from the architect to the window cleaners, and everyone else in between have worked extremely hard to make the College ready for the start of this new term. The new extension looks fabulous and all the staff are very excited to welcome back the girls. However, the hard work is far from over as we still have a £2million target that needs to be achieved.
It has been an eventful year running the A Gift for Learning Phase 3 campaign. This time last year our total was £680,000 – now look at it – we are almost at £1.2m. This has been achieved by donations of varying amounts from parents and friends of the College, and through the continuing hard work of the fundraising campaign committee.
A big boost to the campaign was due to several events and activities which were organised specifically to raise money and awareness for the campaign. The Car Raffle to win a Fiat 500 raised just under £30,000; the spectacular Emerald Fundraising Ball which took place back in March and through ticket sales, sponsorship and a successful auction on the night raised £34,000 for the campaign.
The £1 Challenge encouraged the students to become entrepreneurs and grow £1 kindly donated by Mrs Pearson. Some of the girls put a lot of thought and imagination into this activity and £400 grew into £3000.
Our collaboration with The Ladies’ College Guild continues to prosper with a successful London event held in May, several events here at College and a donation towards the campaign of £10,000. All College Leavers are automatically a member of the Guild and will be kept informed of upcoming events over the next year. Another London social event will be planned and all old girls are welcome.
So as we move into the new building this September – as planned, we must continue to actively fundraise as we still have our £2m target to reach which contributes to the £7.5m total cost of the build. Work will continue on the landscaping and furnishing of the rooms with modern and up-to-date facilities, which all need to be paid for.
Family bricks can be purchased to help with the continuation of the campaign which will be part of a path between Melrose and the Senior School. Donations for specific equipment for the Music department will be needed over the next year – more details to follow.
Please get in touch if you wish to become a donor, or involved in our fundraising activities.
As Patron, I must firstly offer a huge thank you to everyone who has already contributed to allow the new three-storey extension to actually start as soon as school broke up in July this year.
Never has girl’s education been more important for the future of our island. Top companies bringing their businesses here, or thinking of coming to Guernsey, always put the quality of education at the top of their requirements. The Ladies' College certainly leads the way by far in Guernsey – and maybe the Channel Islands. The 100% A to C pass rate in recent exams are to be applauded.
I speak plainly – we need another million pounds to complete our vision; our vision for future generations of girls who will contribute greatly to the future success of Guernsey in a global market place.
With your invaluable help this Phase 3 campaign will make a real difference to The Ladies’ College students and staff.
Below you will find the relevant documents to make a donation. The Ladies' College is a Guernsey Registered Charity (CH311). If you prefer paper versions, please contact the Campaign Office.
