The Ladies' College's BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy aims to prepare students for future studies and employment by integrating digital technologies into their learning.

Senior School students must use specific devices like the Lenovo 13w Gen 3, while Sixth Form students have more flexibility but still need a device with a physical keyboard.

Both students and teachers use Microsoft Office 365 for email, storage, and applications, with resources accessible via SharePoint and Teams.

Parents are encouraged to purchase recommended devices through the College to ensure compatibility and proper management. The IT Department provides support and ensures that devices comply with the College's Acceptable Use Policy.

More information will be added here shortly, but in the meantime, please contact the IT Department at support@theladiescollege.samanage.com.

Our E-Safety guidance is currently being reviewed to ensure it reflects the most up-to-date advice for keeping students safe online. Updated information will be available shortly.

Thank you for your understanding.

Our Examinations page provides key information, guidance, and support for students and parents as they prepare for both internal and external assessments.

Here you’ll find exam procedures, policies, and helpful resources to ensure students feel informed, organised, and confident throughout the examination process.

Parents are requested not to send their daughter to school if she is unwell.

Girls should not attend school if they have:

  • been ill with vomiting and diarrhoea. They should not return to school until 48 hours after symptoms have stopped.
  • a reportable illness or condition that is contagious and a physician determines the child has not had sufficient treatment to reduce the health risk to others.
  • a bacterial infection such as Impetigo if they have not completed 24 hours of antimicrobial therapy.
  • lice, ringworm or scabies that is untreated and contagious to others.
  • any condition which requires more care than staff can provide without compromising the health and safety of other children.

At The Ladies' College, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to thrive and succeed. Our Learning Support Department, led by Mrs Nicola Ingrouille, provides a comprehensive and inclusive approach to supporting students with a wide range of learning needs.

Mrs Ingrouille is supported by a dedicated team of professionals with expertise across various areas of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), offering continuity of care and support from Pre-School (age 2) through to Sixth Form (age 18).

If you would like to discuss your daughter’s individual needs or find out more about the support available, please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Ingrouille at ningrouille@ladiescollege.ac.gg.

Our PSHCE curriculum equips students with essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge to navigate life confidently. Grounded in integrity, bravery, and kindness, students learn to foster positive relationships, maintain health and well-being, appreciate British Values, and effectively prepare for their future careers.

The curriculum follows guidelines from the PSHE Association and statutory RSE requirements, covering health, relationships, and living in the wider world.

The wellbeing and safety of our students is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive environment where every student feels valued, respected, and protected.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mrs Rosie de la Fosse, Deputy Head of Melrose, who is supported by a trained safeguarding team across the College.

This section is currently being updated to reflect our latest policies and procedures. In the meantime, if you have any safeguarding concerns or questions, please contact Mrs de la Fosse directly on rdelafosse@ladiescollege.ac.gg

As with other health and safety advice, the College follow the States’ guidance in terms of whether schools should be open or not.

Given the developments in our IT infrastructure, we are now able to offer a broader provision should we have to shut for safety reasons.

In view of this, the first day of snow will be lighter touch in terms of provision. Whilst there will be an opportunity to connect with teachers, we will have a programme that children can opt in or out of to allow for more time for enjoying the unique opportunity that snow in Guernsey brings.

Should the snow continue, we will on the second day and onwards, revert to a full remote provision within Senior School & Sixth Form, and as close to our usual online live provision will be provided for our younger pupils as is feasible given the conditions.

In the event of overnight snow and ice

  • When snow has fallen overnight, we will communicate decisions about school closure or a later start time no later than 07:15. Parents will receive notification of the College’s decision regarding closure/changes to opening by Engage. Supporting communications will be via Teams (for students) and Engage, Facebook, and local radio for parents, guardians and the wider community.

In the event of snow during the day

  • When snow falls during the day, we will monitor the weather conditions. Parents will receive notification of the College’s decision regarding closure/changes to opening by Engage. We will not ask, nor do we expect your daughter/s to give you this information and are keen to avoid the situation where parents arrive at their daughter’s request outside of our own advice.
  • Sixth Form students will be dismissed from whichever site they are on at the time that a decision is taken by ourselves or Elizabeth College. If at Ladies' College, all Sixth Form students (from both Ladies' College and Elizabeth College) are asked to sign out with a Sixth Form team member in The Leaf Centre.

General information in the event of poor weather

Please be advised that:

- Whilst we do our very best to make the site is safe, we may not be able to clear all pathways, and so both parents and children should proceed with caution.

- We may have limited or indeed no access to The Core, so packed food/drink is required.

- Students are encouraged to wear footwear and outer clothing which keeps them safe and warm.

We are currently updating our uniform and kit information to reflect the most up-to-date requirements for each year group across Melrose and Senior School.

In the meantime, if you are unsure about any uniform or equipment guidelines, please refer to the relevant Parent Handbook or contact our helpful Reception team, who will be happy to assist you.
