Sixth Form
Working together to achieve your goals
We believe that the great strength of the Ladies’ College is the continuity of education we can offer, culminating in our thriving, successful Sixth Form.
We run more than 75 classes at AS and A2 Level and operate a partnership with nearby Elizabeth College in order to be able to offer the widest possible choice of subjects. In the Lower Sixth most girls take four subjects to AS Level, generally dropping to three at A Level in the Upper Sixth.
Sixth Form is an exciting time of transition between school and higher education or employment. At around 100 students our Sixth Form is large enough to offer every opportunity in terms of teaching, learning, extra-curricular activities, socialising and leadership – but not so big that your daughter will get lost in the crowd. Teachers and tutors know every girl well and work with her to bring out the skills, qualifications and confidence she will need to move on to the next stage in her life. A specialist adviser leads students through the process of university application and we have an excellent track record of helping girls gain places at their first choice universities.
Our Sixth Formers are valued role-models for the rest of the College and there are ample opportunities for them to develop their leadership skills as Prefects, House officials, School Council or Charity Committee representatives, sports team captains and mentors to the younger girls. Most classes are co-educational because of our link with Elizabeth College and this is another important aspect of the transition to university life – but a vital part of being at a girls’ only school is the fact that all positions of responsibility are held by girls. This is an undoubted advantage when it comes to demonstrating the personal qualities and experiences needed for university application and building an impressive CV.
