In Year 7 the College admits up to 72 pupils. Approximately one third is from Melrose, one third are Special Place Holders selected by means of the 11+ for a States-funded place, and one third are additional fee-payers. Pupils are divided alphabetically into forms and some subjects are taught in these groups. They are further split into teaching groups. Mathematics is set by ability from the beginning of Year 7. In both the Lower and Upper School students benefit from small class sizes and specialist staff. The College Portal and Virtual Learning Environment enable girls to access resources and information outside the classroom. We set regular homework to reinforce learning and establish a habit of independent study. College examinations are held twice each year to monitor progress and aid target setting.
