Music

“Music gives a soul to the universe.” Plato

Our outstanding Music Department is ably led by our Director of Music, Anthea Roue, who can be found taking part and making a contribution to the islands' musical life.

We are committed to supporting musical talent across the school and give each girl the confidence to enjoy music and to develop her individual skills. Our list of co-curricular groups is lengthy and diverse from chamber groups such as the quartet, junior motet and senior motet to larger ensembles including the string orchestra, wind band and jazz band. We are justly proud of the number of girls involved in music-making and the standards they achieve.

Music is a standard part of the curriculum for girls in Remove to Upper Four (years 7 to 9) and then a popular choice at GCSE. Those girls wishing to study music at the highest level will choose to take A Level Music. We currently follow the OCR syllabus.
