ICT at Melrose aims to enable all girls to have the opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills, understanding and above all enjoyment of this subject. This is achieved through both discrete ICT lessons and cross curricular activities that draw subject knowledge and ICT skills together. Melrose is adopting the Rising Stars Scheme of work beginning in the Preps containing an engaging range of topics and activities for the girls to learn and develop their ICT skills and knowledge.
Throughout their time at Melrose we aim to prepare children for a world where technology has become an integral part of life. We hope to enable them to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information. We also focus on developing the skills necessary for children to be able to use information in a discriminating, effective and enjoyable way. ICT skills are a major factor in enabling children to be confident, creative and independent learners.
Staff and girls benefit from a dedicated ICT room, as well as iPads and other devices to help enable the effective teaching and understanding of these key skills. Melrose has also recently started a morning ICT Club to provide further opportunities for the girls to develop their skills and confidence.
