My passion for physical Geography began growing up on the Jurassic Coast and through a National Geographic subscription from age 7. I earned my BSc (Hons) at UCL, including a study term at the University of Singapore. Afterward, I completed my PGCE at Bristol University. I first joined The Ladies' College before becoming Head of Department at St Sampson’s High for five years, then returned to TLC to continue my teaching journey.

I read English Literature and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London. I continued my studies, gaining a Masters degree in Nineteenth Century Literature and Culture. I was keen to pass on my love of literature therefore completed a PGCE at Bath University. I am committed to continued professional development, which has led me to complete my NPQML and more recently, three years of study towards my CTeach qualification. This recognises expertise in research and teaching practice.

I have a passion for information technology and how it can enable young people to communicate. The ever-changing face of my subject is what keeps me engaged and I am particularly proud to be involved with whole island online safety and developing students' future ready skills as well. Outside of school I like to cook, fish and have a passion for British and Japanese classic cars and motorbikes. I am also a keen football fan although as a Bolton Wanderers supporter some may disagree.

In my free time I love spending time with my two children, my dachshund Bonita and my honeybees in my favourite place, my garden.

I like to fuse our heritage with modern innovation to reshape educational paradigms, equipping tomorrow’s adults for a rapidly evolving world. A lifelong learner fluent in over seven languages and having lived in six countries, I continually embrace the need for global competencies.

I also enjoys running in my free time and have completed half marathons and marathons. I enjoy teaching and running co-curricular clubs at The Ladies' College and am in charge of the Melrose "Juniors" Physical Education.

After achieving a BSc (Hons) in Marine and Environmental Biology at the University of St Andrews I completed a PGCE at St Martin's, Lancaster. Biology is a fascinating subject; it covers an enormous range from molecular to ecosystem biology with something that everyone will find interesting. I really enjoy the fact that there is always something new to learn and share with my students. An island with an enormous tidal range is the perfect place to spend time seashore life.

I gained my degree in English Literature from Southampton University in 2002, marking the institution's Golden Jubilee celebrations. Upon attaining my PGCE from Bath University, I spent four years teaching in England before returning to Guernsey and joining the College in 2008. It has been a privilege to help guide, support and nurture students, encouraging them to see the strength, power and beauty of their individual voices both through oracy and the written word.

I graduated from Loughborough University in July 2014 with a BSc First Class Honours in Chemistry and a Diploma in Industrial Studies. During my degree, I completed a twelve-month placement at Reckitt Benckiser. I graduated from The University of Nottingham in 2015 with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and was a Royal Society of Chemistry Scholar. Outside of work, I enjoy paddleboarding and building Lego sets.

I joined the Ladies’ College as a full-time MFL teacher in 2014, dedicated to fostering a passion for languages in my students. I hold a PGCE from Oxford Brookes University and a Master's in Linguistics from Rennes 2 University. My career has taken me to various places abroad, broadening my horizons. In 2013, I moved from London to Guernsey with my husband, and my two daughters were born here. I love spending time outdoors with my family, enjoying the wonderful lifestyle Guernsey offers.

I teach A Level Business Studies and Economics and draw from my degree in Business Studies from City University and experience as a qualified accountant. I am passionate about making complex topics accessible through real-world application and a supportive, structured teaching style. Outside the classroom, I coach girls’ and women’s cricket as an ECB Level 3 Advanced Coach.

I have had a long association with The Ladies’ College having been a student here in the 1980s and 90s. After teaching in London for 6 years I returned to Guernsey and to teach at College in 2004. I enjoy helping students of all abilities find a love of Mathematics. I would like to dispel the myth that there exists such a thing as a ‘maths brain’, and believe that everyone can do Maths with the right building blocks.
Carrie Gribbens

I graduated from Imperial College London in 1983 and began teaching in 1985. I've taught maths to students aged 11–18, including A-level and Further Maths, in the UK, Greece, and Zambia. I moved to Guernsey in 2000 as Head of Maths at Elizabeth College and joined The Ladies’ College in 2014. I enjoy practical maths, coding, robotics, and chess. A Candidate Master, I have represented Guernsey at two Chess Olympiads.
Andy Hale

I was born and raised in Guernsey. After gaining a degree in Music and Theology, I worked in Scandinavia as a full-time organist and teacher, before returning to Guernsey to begin working at Ladies' College. I have directed and accompanied many local choirs and continue to be involved in the wider musical life of the island. Highlights of my time at Ladies' College include taking the college choirs to sing in Venice, Florence, Prague and Paris.

I have spent over 20 years working in schools, championing young people to overcome barriers and let their individuality shine. With a background in maths, sports science, and a specialism in SEND and inclusion, I've been lucky to work alongside brilliant teachers and staff. I love all sports (especially rugby), being outdoors, cycling, reading, and laughing with my family — preferably somewhere windy, muddy, and full of chaos!

I hold a BA Hons degree in Drama and English from Royal Holloway, and a 3 Year National Diploma in Professional Acting from ALRA in London. I worked as an actor and director in London and later ran a touring theatre company. Having moved back to Guernsey to raise my family, I re-trained as a teacher and joined College in 2013. I am proud that the department offers a wealth of opportunity to cultivate essential life-skills and creativity, be that in lessons or in our outstanding school productions.

Due to my love of the subject, I gained a PGCE in Secondary Religious Education at the University College St Mark and St John. I worked in the UK before returning to Guernsey and joining The Ladies' College. Outside of College, I enjoy travelling and scuba diving. I am also interested in mental health and wellbeing and I am a qualified listener on island.

As Head of of History, I continue a strong tradition at Ladies' College of growing and deepening students' insight and interpretation of the past and, therefore, the present. I strongly believe that in an information economy, the ability to practise discernment and apply our critical faculties is paramount. Hence, I seek to grow cultural capital, to support the development of perspective through empathy and compassion and to enhance fluent and formal argument and exposition.

I’m passionate about Philosophy, Ethics and Beliefs because it develops open-minded students. As an alumna of the College and holding a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the Open University, I combine academic excellence with a deep commitment to the school and to helping each student achieve their full potential.

I moved to Guernsey in 2014 after having taught in Somerset for eight years, and look to bring enthusiasm, passion and creativity into the classroom, with the understanding of the importance that education plays in developing confidence in young people and enabling them to grow as individuals.

Passionate about design, modern and traditional crafts, Art and healthy gourmet food, I thrive when combining my hands-on creativity whilst inspiring and nurturing students in education. Outside my profession I enjoy competitive sports such as triathlon, paddleboarding, surfing, cooking, entertaining, gardening and walking the cliffs or beaches with my dog.

I have been creative throughout my career. My BA (Hons) Degree in 3D Design - Industrial Design / Engineering led me to London as a Senior Product Designer working at design consultancies in Clerkenwell, Islington and later in West Sussex. After my PGCE DT I taught in schools in London, Surrey and Suffolk. My passion for design and innovation continues in my current role and my downtime is spent surfing and running. I love to travel either surfing by the coast or snowboarding in the mountains.

Having completed a PhD in Medieval English Literature and taught in universities in the United Kingdom and Germany, in 2020 I was appointed as an English teacher at The Ladies’ College. For me, the draw of literature, especially poetry, is its open-ended nature, a quality literature shares with the pursuit of research. As EPQ Coordinator, I also enjoy celebrating how much independence each student develops over the course of their research journey as they plan and carry out their own projects.

My passion for Biology began early, but it was during my A-level studies that I became especially intrigued by the complexities of inheritance. This interest led me to pursue a BSc in Human Genetics, followed by a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nottingham. After several years working in cancer research, I transitioned into teaching, where I completed my PGCE in secondary Science education. I now enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for Biology with students from Remove to Upper Sixth.

I’ve worked for over 16 years in communications in Scotland and England on award winning campaigns. Returning to Guernsey in 2014, I worked in a range of roles in local government and education which led me to realise that I love working with young people and being part of their journey. My passion is DofE and going on skiing and mountain biking holidays.

Recently, I played Jackie in Rebecca Gold, streaming on Amazon Prime and YouTube. A qualified dance teacher, I love sea swims and scenic walks with my husband, Nick, and our two children. It’s lovely to be part of Ladies’ College.

Since then I have worked primarily in the third sector developing services for The Sunflower Trust, St John Training Services and more recently Autism Guernsey. In 2023 I joined the office team and absolutely love working here.

I've always been passionate about science, leading me to complete a degree in Human Biology at Oxford Brookes University. I worked at Guy's Hospital and the Institute of Molecular Medicine, earning my PhD through Oxford Brookes. I then joined the Institute of Cancer Research, continuing my scientific research until relocating to Guernsey. With limited science roles on the island, I was fortunate to become a Science Technician at The Ladies' College.

Outside of work, I enjoy gardening at my allotment and spending time with my family, pets, and friends.
